MAKAAM was the co-organizer of a one-day consultation on “ Understanding MoTA Circular and FRA Implementation in Telangana – Gender perspective” on 13th July at Hyderabad along with the Centre for People’s Forestry and Dhatri. The focus of the workshop was on understanding various circulars issued by MoTA (Ministry of Tribal Affairs) about the implementation of the Forest Rights Act, the status of implementation in the state and coming up with strategies for implementing Community Forest Rights and Individual Forest Rights. Mr. Tushar Das from CFRLA network gave a presentation on MoTA circulars and gave insights about their implications. Participants from various districts representing several organizations shared their field experiences. Ms. Usha Seethalakshmi, Dr. Rukmini Rao, and Ms. S. Ashalatha from MAKAAM participated and made several suggestions for taking the issue forward.
