The advent of the COVID-19 pandemic and the subsequent lockdown enforced across the country has had far-reaching consequences on women farmers.

On this page, we are putting together a list of reports, documents, videos, and any other resources as a network, which will be periodically updated.

Resources on COVID-19:

1. Online video session on the impact of COVID-19 on women farmers (YouTube link): On May 29, 2020, around 60 participants from 16 states across the country logged into the online session conducted by MAKAAM. Each speaker (state anchor) from the state was given around 5 minutes to discuss their situation and the corresponding recommendations they have for tackling said situation.

2. Preliminary report based on the online session and subsequent recommendations: “Coping with the Lockdown: Impact of COVID-19 on Women Farmers” (report link here)

3. Survey by MAKAAM Maharashtra: MAKAAM Maharashtra recently conducted a survey in order to understand how single women cultivators and wage labourers have been affected by the COVID-19 linked lockdown. The study covered 946 women across 17 districts of Maharashtra. Report in English and Marathi.

4. National COVID-19 Survey report: 

On the occasion of Mahila Kisan Diwas (National Women Farmers’ Day, Oct 15, 2021), we released a report on a nation-wide survey on the impact of COVID-19 on women farmers. The data was collected across 11 states of Assam, Bihar, Gujarat, Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, and Uttarakhand with a total of 930 participants.
